Many reps visit Regina in the fall to share information about their school, so please pay careful attention to the Counselors’ Notes and announcements on the Guidance bulletin board for dates and times.  Students must report in to their teacher for attendance purposes before attending a college session, and must sign up before 5th hour the day before the visit in order to receive a pass. Three passes are allowed.

College Application Process

Regina High School Code: 231873

Except for some highly competitive colleges and early decision programs, most colleges have rolling admissions.  This means that students can apply at any time and will receive notice of acceptance in approximately 6-8 weeks (sometimes longer for the larger schools.) However, it is best to have all college applications completed by October 31st of senior year.

There are several important steps to the process:

  • Determine a comfortable number of schools to apply to.  Currently, the preferred method for most schools is to apply electronically, however paper-method applicants are not penalized in any way.  You can locate applications by: 1) visiting the college's website; 2) picking them up at college fairs; 3) locating them in our file cabinet at Regina; 4) asking the college reps who visit RHS.

  • Complete the application.  It should be neatly and completely filled out, and signed for verification.

  • For the more selective schools, it is highly advisable to include a resume which may describe your activities and awards beyond the application.  Please see www.resumeedge.com or Mrs. B. for further information and for examples.

  • If required, include essays and/or personal statements that both illustrate your best samples of writing or explain circumstances that have not been communicated through your application.

  • When you have completed your applications electronically (paid by credit card) or by paper method (paid by check), bring either the counselor form or paper application to Mrs. Dombruski in the guidance office.  She will make copies of your transcript, type an envelope, add postage, and then give it to Mrs. Berschback, senior counselor.  Students must indicate with a note if we are to hold the application for a teacher recommendation.  Teachers will need at least two weeks notice to write recommendations after being asked.  Regina will mail two applications for free.  Additional college or scholarship application/transcript requests cost $2.00.  Students will be billed at a later date for these fees.

  • Mrs. Berschback will review your application, complete the counselor's recommendations and mail it out within 3-5 days.  If there are special circumstances that you believe should be included in your application, please make an appointment with Mrs. B. to discuss them.
