Class of 2019 Prom, Baccalaureate & Graduation Information

Dear Parents and Senior Class Member,

It is hard to believe, but the time is almost here to graduate another class from Regina High School. You received a communication from us in February. This, our second letter to you, has additional information and important dates for scheduling purposes. Please review these with your family. To print this letter, click here.

Thursday, May 16: Senior Prom
The Senior Prom begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 10:30 p.m. This special evening is at The Mirage Elegant Banquets and Catering at 16980 18 Mile Road in Clinton Township. All students should arrive no later than 6:15 p.m. Dinner is served promptly at 6:30 p.m. We prefer students remain at the hall until the dance is over. Those who wish to leave before the dance is over cannot re-enter. Parents and students should review the School Dance Code on pages 13 and 14 of Regina’s Handbook as well as the “Formal and Elegant” dress policy that was included in our February communication to you. If a student chooses to violate the School Dance Code in any way, the student and her date will be asked to leave the Prom and parents will be notified the student is being sent home. Students who are inappropriately dressed will be turned away at the door. If you are unsure whether a dress is appropriate, you can always show a picture of it to the Administration for clarification.

Wednesday, May 22: Baccalaureate
Baccalaureate
starts at 6:00 p.m. at St. Malachy Catholic Church at 14115 Fourteen Mile Road in Sterling Heights. All seniors are expected to attend. Full academic attire must be worn. The doors to St. Malachy open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are not required for this event.

Wednesday, May 22: The Class of 2019 Celebration Dinner
The Class of 2019 Celebration Dinner
will be at Regina High School directly after Baccalaureate. We expect to be back at Regina by about 7:00 p.m. The Mother’s Guild will send invitations to all Seniors and their families along with an RSVP. We would like to have all of our Seniors and their families attend this special evening.

Thursday, May 23: Honors Night and Graduation Commencement Exercises
Honors Night and Graduation Commencement Exercises
begins at 6:00 p.m. This final gathering of the Class of 2019 is at St. Isidore Catholic Church at 18201 23 Mile Road in Macomb. Doors to St. Isidore open at 5:00 p.m. Students must be in their assigned place no later than 5:30 p.m. Families receive ten tickets to the event and seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. The last day to request more tickets is May 10, 2019. The easiest way to get more tickets is to have your daughter see Mrs. Backman or Mrs. Michels. There is absolutely no admittance without a ticket. There is designated handicapped seating in the Church which is clearly marked and reserved.

Baccalaureate plus Honors Night and Graduation Commencement Exercises are formal school events. Graduates are to be in full academic attire described below and are expected to adhere to the following directives:

  1. Graduation caps are to be worn flaton top of your head and parallel to the floor.

  2. White shoes and a white or very pale pastel dress must be worn under, but not hang below, the Graduation gown which generally falls to mid-calf. A heel height of 2-3 inches is suggested; however, flats may be worn. Sandals or open-toe shoes must have straps to securely hold the heel of the foot in place. For your safety, do not wear stiletto heels, high platforms, or thong sandals. Corsages, large earrings, choker-style necklaces, and facial piercings are not appropriate to wear with academic attire. You will be asked to remove them. Shoes will be approved at Graduation practice in order to get your tickets.

  3. Tell your guests on which side of the Church you are seated.

  4. Ask your guests to refrain from applause until all graduates have received their diplomas. Remind your guests that this is a formal ceremony and that loud comments or yelling out of names is in poor taste and unacceptable behavior at your ceremony.

  5. Instruct your guests not to leave their seats during the ceremony. Those who plan to videotape the event must do so from their seats. All aisles must be clear before, during, and after the ceremony.

  6. As part of the Graduation fee for the Class of 2019, all students receive professional pictures of the conferring of the diploma. Students receive two 5 x 7 photos of the special moment. The photographer will mail these to your home. If you expect to have a change of address, let us know as soon as possible, so that we can notify the photographer.

  7. At Honors Night and Graduation Commencement Exercises, report to the designated area at St. Isidore to check in. Be ready to line up no later than 5:30 p.m. Please be prompt. Leave personal items with your parents. Your roses will be distributed to you once everyone is lined up.

After the Graduation Ceremony, do not leave St. Isidore without picking up your envelope from the alphabetically-marked tables. That envelope contains a number of items, including your official diploma.

NOTE: In the event that some unfortunate circumstance arises or if you are ill and cannot attend the Honors Night and Graduation Commencement Exercises, you need to call the school office as early as possible on that day.
Instructions will be given regarding how to pick up your materials.

Since this is our last communication to you regarding the specifics of Prom, Baccalaureate, and Honors Night and Graduation Commencement Exercises, keep it in a safe place as a reminder of these events. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
God bless and good luck to all!

Sincerely,
Erin Backman, Senior Class Co-Moderator Rosemary Michels, Senior Class Co-Moderator
